Everyone accepted the theory as fact

Later on Christian when flourished in mid 2–3 century it was interpreted by church authority

That it's already written on Bible because there are verse where it says something like sun arises from east and sets in west

"For you (God) subjected the sun and the moon, both diligently pursuing their courses. And for you He subjected the night and the day."
Quran
The Quran does not explicitly say that the Sun revolves around the earth. It says that the Sun and the Moon move within defined orbits.
